Authentic Portuguese
We are 'a Portuguese' in Amsterdam. A Portuguese tasca, to be more specific. You're welcome throughout the day for a pastel de nata, a grilled sardine on broa or a codfish pastry. Obviously with a glass of vinho verde, or a freshly Super Bock from the draft. Our dishes are just as pure as they are simple, always homemade and served with Portuguese hospitality. Just like in Portugal.
The tasca in Portugal is like the bodega in Spain or the trattoria in Italy: the restaurant around the corner where the food tastes like you're eating at someone's house, and where you're welcomed as if you're family. It is the living room of the neighbourhood, a place where you're always welcome. We want to pass on that feeling to the people of Amsterdam. Our tasca is there for the neighborhood, and for the city.
Those who enter our tasca, have the feeling that they are in Porto. The typical white-and-blue azulejos on the wall, the marble tables, the cured hams behind the bar, the smell of grilled fish and chicken piri-piri, everything reminds you of the Portuguese port city. Almost everything in our restaurant comes from Portugal - from the tiles to the tables, and where possible also the ingredients.
Start the day like a Portuguese with a 'bica' and a pastel de nata on the sunny terrace.Or choose from our delicious menu of petiscos - starters like chouriço in firewater (flambéed at the table!), shrimp croquettes and vongole in white wine... In the evening, you can choose from Portuguese classics such as chicken piri-piri, the fish stew cataplana or grilled codfish, the national dish of the Portugal.
Are you hungry yet? We are open daily from 11 o'clock, and our kitchen closes at the same time in the evening. Bem-vinda!
